Bringing the New Year!

Lexington , KY. January 8th, 2005 : Chelsea brought in the New Year with a bang. She was invited to spend the day with Troy Gentry of Country Music Duo Montgomery/Gentry. Troy is an old friend of Chelsea 's father, Ray, a member of the Greg Austin Band for several years, and Troy played with the band before his success with Montgomery/Gentry.

It started with a phone call on December 30, 2004 . Chelsea called her Dad that night while he was visiting with Troy . Troy talked to her and just wanted to say “hi” and congratulate her on her CD. He said he was looking forward to listening to it. Troy went on to explain how he and her Dad played together and how much that her Dad meant to him for the years of support he had given him. Chelsea on the other end was almost speechless. Not able to say more that "ah-u" and "Yeah". Troy went on to say that he had given tickets and backstage passes for her to come and visit.

At 1:30p.m. On Dec. 31st Chelsea, Ray and her sister, Savannah , went to Rupp Arena for the sound check. They watched the sound and lighting crew setup for the Big New Year Eve show. Troy and Eddie came in during Lynard Skynard's sound check.

Greg Austin, Stacey, Chelsea , Savannah and Ray sat in the back of the arena during the sound check. Troy soon joined them and they all went out to eat. Chelsea and Savannah spent their lunch time listening to stories about music and old times.

They then attended a pre-show gathering at 6:00 p.m. for friends and family. At 7:30 the show started with Blue County , a new country duo that put on a great show. Then Trace Atkins performed his hits and music for the sold out crowd of over 12,000 fans. Montgomery/Gentry took the stage, and what a show it was. They had special guests John Michael Montgomery and Ricky Medlock. In the middle of the show Troy acknowledged and thanked Greg Austin and Chelsea ’s father, Ray Adams , for helping him get his start in the business.

The show final act was Lynard Skynard. Chelsea was not too familiar with them but by the time the show was over she loved them. At the midnight countdown to the New Year the entire group of Artists join together on the stage for the celebration.

After the show we caught up with everyone to say thanks for invitation.
