Arliss and Priscilla were married in '55 and soon thereafter had three sons. Arliss sang on occasions with the original Sammons Quartet in the '40's and '50's. He now sings tenor and is the spokesman for The Sammons Family. Priscilla sings alto, plays acoustic guitar, and assists Pam with appointments. |
| In '71 one of their sons asked, "Why can't we travel and sing like Papaw and Granny Sammons did." Arliss explained that it would take lots of time, sacrifice and dedication. But the boys said they were willing and wanted to do it. Having been their Sunday school teacher since their birth, Priscilla was also willing because she felt it would be a way to see her children continue in the way they had been taught. So they purchased a small PA system, guitars, and a car-top carrier. This was only the beginning of their long journey yet to come. |
| Dewey and Pam were married in '83. They met for the first time at her home church in Ashland, KY where she had sung since she was a young child. During a youth sponsored "Pie Social," following a Sammons Family concert, a close friend of Pam and an acquaintance of The Sammons Family introduced Pam to Dewey and the rest is history. |
|
| Pam sings alto and lead and also coordinates the group's appointments. Dewey sings tenor, writes songs and works with Tim on the music arrangements of their songs. He also plays lead guitar, banjo, fiddle, and harmonica. God has blessed them with two wonderful children. Dewey and Pam have always felt that God has had a special calling on their lives through the ministry of music. |
| Kendra and Marisa have traveled with The Sammons Family since their birth. Kendra is three years older than Marisa and they attend the Mountain Christian Academy at Martin, KY where they are active in athletics, academics, and Christian education. |
 |
| Both of the girls began singing with the family when they were about four years old. With the musical and vocal assistance of their Mom and Dad (Pam and Dewey) and Uncle Tim, they have been a wonderful blessing to thousands with their singing and playing. Kendra and Marisa both play fiddle and sing lead vocals. They have done an exceptional job on their first recording project. The family is very proud of them, not only for their musical talent but for their desire to tell others about Jesus and be a witness before their family and friends. |
|
Tim began singing when he was old enough to sit in a church-choir pew. He was 11-years old and had to stand on a pop-crate when the family recorded their first stereo long-play album. Shortly thereafter he began playing acoustic guitar. He taught himself to play piano in high school on a school piano because he didn't have a piano at home. He began playing piano for the family in '78. |
Along with singing lead and playing piano, Tim also plays bass guitar, mandolin, and works with Dewey on musical arrangements of their songs. He occasionally writes songs and has had some of his songs recorded by secular artists in bluegrass and country music. Tim is also the official designated bus driver for The Sammons Family.
